Oyo Pupils and Teachers Held Captive for 12 Days

Twelve days after the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, the Child Protect Network has raised an alarm regarding their captivity. The incident, which occurred on May 15, 2026, involved the kidnapping of several pupils and a teacher identified as Michael Oyedokun, who was reportedly killed during the attack.

The abduction took place in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, coinciding with a separate incident in Borno State where 40 pupils were also abducted. Olakunle Sanni, the coordinator of the Child Protect Network, described the attack as a reflection of the growing insecurity faced by children in schools across Nigeria.

The organization has called for immediate action to rescue the kidnapped individuals, emphasizing the devastating impact of such terror on the safety and education of children in Nigeria.
