China and Myanmar Strengthen Trade and Security Ties

On a recent visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Myanmar's Minister Aung Hla reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in trade and security. Xi highlighted China's non-interference policy and expressed readiness to share development experiences as China embarks on its 15th five-year plan from 2026 to 2030.

The leaders discussed the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, a key component of the Belt and Road Initiative, aimed at boosting Myanmar's economy and improving livelihoods. Xi pledged greater support for Myanmar's post-earthquake reconstruction and emphasized the need for joint efforts to combat online gambling, telecom fraud, and drug trafficking.

Both leaders signed a cooperation agreement covering transport and the livelihoods of their peoples. Aung Hla praised the longstanding friendship between China and Myanmar, thanking China for its continued support and reaffirming Myanmar's commitment to China's principles.
