China-Nigeria Trade Surges to $15.48 Billion in 7 Months, Strengthening Economic Ties

China-Nigeria trade reached $15.48 billion in the first 7 months of 2025, showing a significant increase compared to the same period in 2024. Yan Yuqing, the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Lagos, highlighted the strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

This growth is attributed to the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit. Despite global challenges, China's economy has shown resilience, with Nigeria being one of its key trading partners.

Nigeria's imports from China are substantial, with China being at the forefront, followed by India, Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates.
