China Responds to Mojtaba Khamenei's Leadership Appointment

Following the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran's new Supreme Leader after the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, China has expressed its stance on the matter. Guo Jiakun, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, stated that the leadership decision was made in accordance with Iran's constitutional process.

He emphasized Beijing's opposition to any attempts by foreign powers to interfere in Iran's internal affairs. This statement comes amid heightened military tensions, particularly with Israel, which has threatened to target Mojtaba Khamenei as a potential successor.

The situation escalated following a series of coordinated airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets. Iran has responded with missile and drone strikes directed at Israeli territories and Gulf countries hosting American military bases, further intensifying the conflict across the Middle East.
