Chinese Nationals Arrested for Illegal Mining in Nasarawa

On Friday, a high-powered security operation led by Deputy Governor Emmanuel Agbadu Akab resulted in the arrest of Chinese nationals involved in illegal mining activities in the Amba community of Kokona Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. The operation was conducted following repeated reports of unauthorized mining, despite government directives to cease such activities.

During the raid, authorities recovered mining resources stored in cartons and seized equipment, including a CCTV camera reportedly installed to monitor the illegal operations. Akab expressed dismay over the situation and emphasized that the government would not permit illegal ventures, stressing the importance of upholding the rule of law.

He noted that mining is exclusively regulated by federal legislation and that any found guilty of illegal activities would face the full weight of the law. The area will remain closed until legal matters concerning the mining site are resolved, and Akab called on citizens to support efforts to maintain peace and stability in the state.
