Borno State Reports 274 New Cholera Cases in 24 Hours

Borno State has recorded 274 new cholera cases within 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 4,204 and the death toll to 39 across seven local government areas. Dr.

Jacob Thlizer provided this update during a sensitization meeting aimed at preventing further outbreaks. The affected areas include Jere, Bama, Kaga, Mafa, Kwaya Kusar, MMC, Konduga, Monguno, Magumeri, and Ngala.

The state government is actively responding to the sudden spike in cholera cases by coordinating with health actors and creating hotspot locations. Shetima Muhammad, the permanent secretary of the state Ministry of Health, announced the establishment of the Njimtilo Infectious Disease Center, which will have 1,000 beds to treat affected individuals.

Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and has assured that necessary support will be provided to health institutions to prevent the spread of the virus.
