US and Nigeria Discuss Religious Freedom Concerns in High-Level Meeting

The US and Nigeria held a high-level meeting in Abuja to address concerns over Nigeria's alleged violations of religious freedom, particularly against Christians. The meeting followed US President Donald Trump's designation of Nigeria as a CPC.

The joint work group aims to reduce violence against vulnerable groups, especially Christians, and create an atmosphere for the free practice of faith. The US delegation, led by Secretary of State Allison Hooker, discussed strategies to enhance religious freedom and security cooperation with Nigeria's delegation, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Both sides emphasized the need to protect civilians, especially vulnerable Christian communities, and strengthen counter-terrorism efforts.
