CIBN Commends Abia Governor for 10% GDP Growth and Poverty Reduction

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for overseeing a remarkable 10% increase in the state's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and an 8% reduction in poverty levels. The President and Chairman of the Council of CIBN, Prof.

Pius Olarenwaju, lauded the economic milestones achieved in Abia State, including attracting investments, creating 10,000 jobs, and improving social sectors such as healthcare delivery and education infrastructure. Governor Otti's administration has also introduced free compulsory education, resulting in a 100% increase in school enrollment.

The CIBN highlighted Otti's contributions to the banking and financial sector, describing him as a goodwill ambassador for the institute. The institute expressed interest in collaborating with the Abia State government on financial literacy programs and financial inclusion initiatives.
