City Boy Movement coordinator's exit sparks conflicting accounts

Ahmed Ajibola's departure from the City Boy Movement as Oyo State Coordinator has become a matter of dispute between the organization and the former official. According to a statement by Director-General Hon.

Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, the movement terminated Ajibola's position due to allegations involving gross misconduct, insubordination, and statements it characterized as harmful to the organization and its patron, Barr. Seyi Tinubu.

Prior to this action, the movement had delivered to Ajibola a notice requiring him to provide a response to these allegations within 48 hours. Ajibola has categorically rejected this narrative.

According to his account, he chose to step down voluntarily after declining two distinct positions that the organization had presented to him. He has firmly denied that any disciplinary process took place before his exit, calling the reports that connect misconduct to his departure misleading, false, and designed to harm his reputation.

His own statement underscored that departing reflected his personal values and disagreements regarding the movement's trajectory in the state. Regarding the national political sphere, Ajibola moved to clarify his stance.

He stressed that stepping back from the City Boy Movement should not be viewed as withdrawing his backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by the administration. Through remarks shared on social media, he made plain that his exit was driven by internal organizational disagreements rather than any shift in his political commitments.

Two competing explanations have emerged for this single occurrence. The movement characterizes Ajibola's departure as a disciplinary measure stemming from an investigation into his conduct, whereas Ajibola maintains it was a personal decision he made after refusing the positions offered.
