Coalition Praises NRS for N3.6trn Revenue Growth

The Coalition for Fiscal Justice, led by Dr. Clara Nnaemeka, praised the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) and its Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji for achieving a remarkable revenue increase from N711 billion in May 2023 to N3.635 trillion by September 2025.

This commendation follows the federal government's disclosure of a broader revenue collection increase from N6.41 trillion in 2021 to N28.79 trillion in 2025. Nnaemeka highlighted that these figures reflect the early benefits of structural reforms aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic vision.

The coalition noted that the expansion of the tax net to 19 million taxpayers, including an additional 800,000 corporate entities, marks a significant milestone in formalizing the economy and reducing reliance on volatile oil revenue. However, the coalition cautioned that sustaining these gains requires consistent policy implementation and robust oversight mechanisms to ensure that increased revenue translates into improved public trust and better funding for critical sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
