Stakeholders Praise NRS for N3.6tn Revenue Increase

Stakeholders have praised the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) for achieving a remarkable revenue surge of N3.6 trillion, as disclosed by the federal government. The monthly revenue rose to N711 billion in May 2023, with total collections increasing from N6.41 trillion in 2021 to N28.79 trillion in 2025.

Dr. Clara Nnaemeka, representing the AEGI Coalition for Fiscal Justice, commended the leadership of Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of NRS, for implementing reforms aimed at improving transparency and accountability in Nigeria's fiscal management.

The reforms have expanded the tax net to 19 million taxpayers, including 800,000 companies, which is a significant step towards reducing reliance on oil revenue. The coalition emphasized that improved revenue collection enables the government to invest in critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

However, they urged the government to ensure transparent utilization of funds and efficient spending to maintain public trust and build a sustainable revenue culture.
