Nigerian Army to Recruit 28,000 Personnel, Establish Bases

On a recent occasion, Lt. Gen.

Waidi Shuaibu Mondai, the Chief of Army Staff, disclosed a comprehensive recruitment plan for the Nigerian Army aimed at establishing new brigades and battalions across six states. This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen security operations and improve rapid response to emerging threats nationwide.

The new format will enhance the Army's operational posture and expand military presence in volatile areas. Key locations include the establishment of the 15 Brigade in Anambra and Imo states, the 12 Battalion in Anyigba, the 226 Battalion in Adamawa, and the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion in Mubi.

Additionally, a logistics base will be set up in Gusau and Ilorin. The Army plans to recruit an additional 28,000 personnel to bolster manpower levels.

Mondai emphasized the importance of joint operations and inter-agency collaboration, noting recent successes in counter-terrorism efforts supported by foreign partners. The Army is also focusing on welfare interventions to enhance troop morale and combat readiness amid ongoing security challenges.
