COAS Warns of Fake News and Deepfakes Threatening Nigeria's Security

Chief of Army Staff Olufemi Oluyede expressed concerns over the growing threats to Nigeria's national security posed by fake news, manipulated images, and deepfakes. General Oluyede highlighted the ease with which misinformation can spread due to advancements in digital technology and artificial intelligence.

He emphasized the importance of responsible and balanced reporting to maintain public trust and support military operations across the country. General Oluyede stressed the role of the media in shaping public perception of the military and warned about the real threat these digital manipulations pose to national cohesion and operational integrity.

The remarks were made during the opening ceremony of the Directorate of Army Public Relations seminar in Abuja.
