Colombia Advances to World Cup Knockouts with 1-0 Win

On Tuesday, Colombia defeated DR Congo 1-0 in Guadalajara, ensuring their place in the World Cup knockout round. The decisive goal came from Daniel Munoz in the 76th minute.

This victory allowed Colombia to top Group K with six points, two points clear of Portugal, who played to a 1-1 draw against DR Congo earlier in the tournament. Colombian fans dominated the Mexican stadium, significantly outnumbering supporters of the African nation.

Colombia had previously beaten Uzbekistan 3-1 in their tournament opener. During the match against DR Congo, Munoz missed an early chance, and James Rodriguez had a powerful shot saved by DR Congo's goalkeeper, Lionel Mpasi.

The African team posed threats, with Mpasi making crucial saves, including a stunning stop against Luis Diaz. Colombia's goalkeeper, Camilo Varga, also had to scramble to save a fierce shot from Nathanael Mbuku as the match approached the 90-minute mark.

Colombia will next face Portugal in Miami on Saturday.
