AY Shares Emotional Tribute to Late Actor Alex Ekubo

Nigerian comedian AY shared the final moments of actor Alex Ekubo, who died on May 11, 2026, after a prolonged battle with stage four liver cancer, diagnosed in 2024. Ekubo underwent a liver transplant, but the liver reportedly failed again in 2026, leading to complications that placed him on life support.

In an emotional Instagram post, AY expressed the pain of losing his friend, describing it as difficult to accept. Godwin Nnadiekw, a close associate, revealed that Ekubo was preparing for his death.

The family of the late actor confirmed that the complications were linked to advanced metastatic kidney cancer. A statement issued on behalf of the family described Ekubo's courageous battle with illness and requested privacy as they mourn.
