Umuenu Community Appeals for Justice Against Land Grabbers

Residents of Umuenu Quarters in Umuawulu Community, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State, have submitted a petition to the Anambra State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, concerning alleged land grabbers. The petition, dated September 11, 2026, requests urgent government intervention to address persistent harassment over ancestral land by individuals suspected to be from the neighboring Enugwu Quarters.

The community, represented by their counsel Hyacinth Moghalu, urges the Attorney-General to allow the ongoing court case, No: A/81C/2024, against Ifeanyichukwu Nwogbo and seven others to proceed. The petitioners, including complainants Daniel Ezeh, Ebenezer Eze, Peter Adibe, and the late Humphrey Obi, assert ownership of the land known as 'Agu Udo' and recount historical trespassing incidents dating back to 1928.

They emphasize the need for the case to reach a logical conclusion to prevent further violence and dispossession.
