Residents Petition IGP Over Alleged Forgery by Officials

Concerned residents have submitted a petition to the new Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services, alleging that certain government officials executed an unauthorized memorandum of understanding (MoU) on behalf of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) without statutory approval. The petition, dated February 26, 2026, calls for an investigation into the alleged forgery, which the group claims undermines court orders and seeks to bypass existing legal frameworks governing revenue collection in the Federal Capital Territory.

The petitioners, including Dr. Fatima Helen Amanabo, Sundai K.

Azaki, Esther Gullong, and Eber Nwaokocha, accuse the officials of attempting to mislead the public and facilitating payments outside the approved Treasury Single Account. They demand the arrest and prosecution of those involved and urge the authorities to issue a public disclaimer to protect the integrity of AMAC and its officials.
