Taraba PDP Disowns Wike-Backed Caretaker Committee

On Wednesday, the Taraba State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) rejected a 16-member caretaker committee that was announced by a faction reportedly led by a minister from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This caretaker committee, chaired by Victor Falack, was intended to oversee party affairs for a period of 30 days until a new executive committee is elected, as per the faction's claims.

However, the recognized leadership of the PDP in Taraba swiftly dismissed this announcement, labeling it as null and void. Herbert Faith Bello, the state chapter's media public officer, stated that the purported caretaker committee was a false and unauthorized statement, asserting that it emanated from an unrecognized body and aimed to create unnecessary confusion and tension among party members.

The state leadership, represented by Obidah Bitru, emphasized that the existing leadership structure remains intact and is fully committed to upholding the party's constitutional principles and internal democracy.
