NASS Joint Committee Approves Additional State for South-East During Constitution Review

The NASS Joint Committee on Constitution Review has approved the creation of an additional state for the South-East geopolitical zone, increasing the region's total to six states. The decision was reached during a two-day retreat in Lagos, where 55 proposals for state creation across the country were reviewed.

Key figures involved in the approval process include Barau Jibrin, Benjamin Kalu, Abdul Ningi, and Ibrahim Isiaka. The move aims to address demands for equitable representation and justice in the region.

The committee also established sub-committees to further consider the creation of additional states in local government areas across the six geopolitical zones.
