Greenplinth Africa Signs $10bn Clean Cookstove Deal

Greenplinth Africa entered into a $10 billion investment agreement with Allgreen Energi NV to enhance the production of clean cookstoves in Nigeria. The signing ceremony took place in Lagos, where Dr.

Olawal Akinwumi, CEO of Greenplinth Africa, highlighted that 950 million people in Africa lack access to clean cooking solutions, with 180 million of them in Nigeria. The initiative is part of a broader agenda to produce 80 million clean cookstoves by 2030, starting immediately.

The project aims to significantly improve cooking efficiency, with expected reductions in fuel consumption, dropping from 10 kilograms of firewood per day to approximately 1.37 kilograms of briquettes, representing an 85% efficiency improvement. Titilayo Oshodi, Lagos State Governor for Climate Change and Circular Economy, emphasized the transformative impact of clean cookstove interventions on household energy use.
