Edo Councillors Launch Impeachment Moves Against Local Government Bosses

Councillors in Edo State have initiated impeachment proceedings against the Acting Chairmen of the 18 local government areas, starting with Hon. Iradia Benjamin in Uhunmwonde and Hon.

Aigboboh in Esan West. The move, which began on Monday following the receipt of certificates from the state electoral body, is believed to be aimed at ensuring party loyalty control over the councils.

Eight councillors voted for Benjamin's impeachment, signaling a wave of similar actions expected to spread across the councils in the coming days as APC loyalists seek to consolidate power following defections from the PDP.
