World Bank Commends Gombe State for Development Success

During a visit to Gombe State, Matthew Verghi, the World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, praised the state for its exemplary performance in executing World Bank-funded development projects. Verghi highlighted the strong commitment and effective implementation demonstrated by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya's administration, which has led to significant improvements in project outcomes.

Gombe State has maintained high performance standards, even outperforming other states in key performance indicators. Verghi noted the state's readiness to meet specific performance criteria, which has enabled it to access funds more effectively.

The partnership focuses on critical areas such as early childhood development, maternal health, child survival, and nutrition. Governor Yahaya reiterated his administration's commitment to human capital development and assured continued cooperation with the World Bank to sustain development outcomes.

Gombe State, despite being one of the least resourced states in terms of federal allocations, has successfully delivered impactful projects that directly improve the lives of its citizens.
