Kano Court Adjourns Ganduje Corruption Trial to April 15, 2026 Amid Legal Challenges

The Kano State High Court has postponed the trial of former Governor Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, son Abdullahi Umar, and five others on corruption charges until April 15, 2026. The case involves accusations of bribery, conspiracy, and embezzlement of public funds totaling billions of Naira.

Ganduje and his co-defendants are facing 11 counts of charges related to the misappropriation of public funds and accepting bribes during his tenure as Governor of Kano State. Other individuals standing trial include former Governor Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad Lamash, and several companies like Safari Textile Ltd and Lasag General Enterprises Ltd.

The prosecution informed the court of its readiness to proceed with the case, while defense lawyers presented multiple pending applications. The court has faced delays due to legal technicalities, including the dismissal of preliminary objections by the defense, leading to appeals and further delays.
