Court Dismisses Suit Against Tinubu Over Rivers State Emergency Rule

The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has dismissed a case filed against President Bola Tinubu over the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. The suit, brought by civil society organizations challenging the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok Et Iba (retd) as the sole administrator, was deemed lacking legal standing by Justice Muhammad Turaki.

The court ruled that the plaintiff's arguments were not valid and described the matter as an academic exercise. The case did not address the core issues at hand, leading to a possible appeal.

Meanwhile, a separate suit challenging the appointment of members of the River State Independent Electoral Commission was adjourned.
