Court Accelerates Treason Trial of Six Coup Suspects

The Federal High Court has commenced an expedited treason trial against six individuals accused of involvement in an alleged coup plot to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration. The prosecution, led by Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, presented four witnesses, including a member of the Nigerian Army and personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS).

Aji and others in the conspiracy. Evidence included a Samsung Galaxy phone recovered from Aji's residence, which contained operational plans and financial trails linked to the coup plot.

The investigation revealed significant financial transactions through a company named Purple Wave, with entries indicating payments totaling hundreds of millions of Naira. Meetings among the alleged plotters were held at various locations, including Brookville Hotel in Abuja, where discussions about regime change and assassination plans were documented.

The trial is ongoing as the court examines the evidence presented.
