Court Allows ICPC Access to El-Rufai's Digital Devices

On Thursday, February 20, 2026, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, granted the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) permission to access and analyze digital devices belonging to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. This order was issued in relation to an ongoing investigation involving El-Rufai, which included the examination of various electronic devices seized during a search of his residence on February 19, 2026.

The devices listed in the court order include multiple mobile phones, storage devices, and a MacBook Pro. El-Rufai had previously filed a separate suit challenging the legality of the search, claiming it violated his fundamental rights and seeking damages of 1 billion Naira.

The ICPC countered that the search was conducted under a valid warrant and was necessary for their investigation. El-Rufai's legal team is contesting the admissibility of evidence obtained during the search.
