ICPC Searches El-Rufai's Residence Amid Detention

On Thursday, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) executed a search at the residence of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. This operation was confirmed by ICPC spokesperson Muyiwa Adekey.

El-Rufai's lawyer, Ubong Akpan, condemned the search as unlawful, asserting that it violated due process and fundamental rights, claiming it did not adhere to established legal procedures. The ICPC later confirmed that El-Rufai is currently in their custody.

This development follows reports that El-Rufai was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) after being released on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday. The DSS allegedly intercepted his phone communications, which has raised concerns regarding national security, as noted by Nuhu Ribadu.
