Court Grants Bail to Nollywood Actress Angela Okorie in Defamation Case

The Federal High Court in Abuja granted Nollywood actress Angela Okorie bail in a criminal defamation and cyberstalking case. Justice Emeka Nwite presided over the case, where Okorie pleaded not guilty to seven counts of amended charges.

She was remanded in Suleja Prison, Niger State, until her bail application was heard. Okorie's lawyer, Alex Ejesiem, argued for bail, stating that his client had not been given adequate time to prepare her defense.

The charges against Okorie include conspiring with Ifeoma Mbonu to commit cyberstalking and defamation, including calling fellow actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie a "blood-sucking demon" on social media. The prosecution urged the court to remand Okorie in prison, citing her alleged failure to honor police invitations and previous bail conditions.

The defense requested that Okorie be allowed to continue enjoying her earlier administrative bail. The court is set to fix a date for the prosecution to present its case.
