Court Orders ADC Secretary to Pay N100m to Judges

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Nkemakolam Ukandu, the welfare secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to pay N100 million in damages to two judges, Justice John Tsoho and Justice Peter Lifu. The ruling was delivered by Justice Salim Ibrahim, who noted that Ukandu failed to diligently prosecute his case.

The court struck out Ukandu's suit, which was marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1165/2026, due to his repeated failure to appear in court. Justice Tsoho and Justice Lifu had earlier sought the court's intervention to compel the National Judicial Council (NJC) to investigate allegations of corruption and abuse of judicial power against them.

The judges were awarded N50 million each in damages. The case arose amidst ongoing leadership disputes within the ADC, involving Nafiu Bala Gomb, who has a separate suit pending against the party's leadership, which is led by former Senate President David Mark.
