Court Orders EFCC, Fidelity Bank to Present CCTV Footage

On Tuesday, during a trial at the Lagos State special offences court in Ikeja, Justice Ismail Ijelu ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Fidelity Bank to produce CCTV footage related to the case against Chukwuebuka Nweke, a former representative of the customs service. Nweke is charged with unauthorized access to a customs account and facilitating a fraudulent withdrawal of N1 million, contrary to Section 386(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

The trial was adjourned after the defense requested the bank to produce video evidence. Nweke denied any involvement in the alleged fraud, asserting that he was wrongfully implicated.

The case revolves around an incident where Nweke allegedly accessed a desktop computer assigned to Emmanuella Anyanwu on June 21, 2025, leading to the unauthorized withdrawal. The defense argued that multiple employees had access to the system, complicating the allegations against Nweke.

The court also heard about Nweke's detention by the EFCC for five months without access to legal counsel.
