Court Orders Forfeiture of ₦850 Million, Luxury Properties, and Vehicles in Lagos Fraud Case

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted a final forfeiture order in a fraud case involving Stanley Akaria Chinemerem and Godwin Uch Okearafor. The EFCC filed a suit against them for defrauding their employer, Godwin Uch Okearafor, of approximately ₦850 million.

The properties targeted for forfeiture include a six-bedroom duplex, two undeveloped plots of land, two luxury vehicles, and 28 bank accounts across various financial institutions. Chinemerem reportedly manipulated post-dated cheques from clients to divert funds into personal accounts.

The court emphasized the importance of non-conviction-based forfeiture proceedings as a tool to recover assets derived from criminal activities. The EFCC lauded the court's decision and highlighted the significance of preventing individuals from benefiting from unlawful activities.
