Court Orders Final Forfeiture of $13M Linked to Achimugu

The Federal High Court in Nigeria has ordered the final forfeiture of $13 million associated with Aisha Achimugu's company, Ocean Engin Oil and Gas Ltd, after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) established that the funds were proceeds of fraud. The court, presided over by Justice Nwite, dismissed claims from Ocean Engin that the money was a legitimate gift, stating that the company failed to prove genuine ownership of the funds.

The EFCC had previously secured an interim forfeiture order on August 22, 2025, and the court found that no individual had provided a monetary gift to Achimugu amounting to $13 million. The investigation revealed that the funds were linked to suspicious activities involving oil block contracts.

Aisha Achimugu, who is also noted for her extravagant 50th birthday celebrations, was arrested at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja in April of the previous year.
