Court Denies Bauchi AG's Travel Request Amid Trial

On Tuesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice O. Egwuatu, rejected the application filed by Sirajo Muhammad Jaja, the Attorney General of Bauchi State, seeking permission to travel to Saudi Arabia for a religious pilgrimage and medical check-up.

Jaja is currently facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alongside Aliyu Abubakar for alleged financial crimes, including money laundering involving a sum of N1,635,270,350. The prosecution argued against Jaja's request, stating he posed a flight risk, supported by a ten-paragraph counter affidavit filed on March 13, 2026.

The court dismissed Jaja's application and adjourned the trial until June 30, 2026, allowing for continued proceedings in the case.
