Court Denies Onyejeocha's Request in INEC Forgery Case

On Monday, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Moham Umar, dismissed the application of Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, a former Minister of State for Labour, to join a forgery suit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CV/1308/2025, was filed by Amobi Ogah, a member of the House of Representatives, who is contesting the alleged forgery of election results related to the 2023 National Assembly elections in the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State.

Onyejeocha's counsel sought to join the proceedings to compel INEC to conclude investigations and prosecute the alleged forgery. However, the court declined the request, stating that her participation was unnecessary and did not affect the resolution of the dispute between Ogah and INEC.

Ogah's legal team maintained that INEC should prosecute Onyejeocha for disputing the results she presented to the tribunal, which INEC reportedly disowned.
