Court Remands Six Alleged Coup Plotters in DSS Custody

On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, ordered the remand of six individuals accused of conspiring to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The accused, including Major General Moham Ibrahim Gana (rtd), Captain Erasmus Ochegobia, and Chief Timipre Sylva, face 13 counts of treason.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Princ Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN, represented the federal government during the arraignment. The defendants denied the charges, which include allegations of plotting to wage war against the Federal Republic of Nigeria and failing to inform authorities of their plans.

The court has scheduled the trial to begin on April 27, while the defendants' request for bail was denied. The DSS has been instructed to allow the defendants access to their lawyers to prepare their defense.

The charges are based on actions allegedly planned for 2025 within the jurisdiction of the court.
