Federal High Court Remands Nine Suspects Over Benue Attack

The Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded nine suspects accused of involvement in the Yelwata attack in Benue State, where 150 people were killed. The suspects, including Yakubu Mamman, were arraigned on 57 counts of amended charges related to terrorism.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, led the prosecution team, which included Rotimi Oyedepo and other legal representatives. The suspects were linked to the attack through a painstaking investigation and inter-agency collaboration.

The court ordered the suspects to be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Center pending trial. The trial is set to commence on February 26-27, 2026, with the prosecution intending to call eight witnesses.

The suspects are accused of planning and carrying out the attack in June 2025 in Nasarawa State, resulting in the deaths of 150 people.
