Court Remands Ugochukwu Eze for N800m Bank Hacking

Ugochukwu Eze, a 47-year-old man popularly known as "Amazon," was arraigned on Thursday before the Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly hacking into the server of Suntrust Bank Plc and fraudulently diverting N800 million into various accounts. The arraignment was conducted by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) before Justice Friday Ogazi.
The prosecution, represented by M. Bajela, stated that Eze, along with others still at large, conspired between 2023 and 2026 to unlawfully interfere with the bank's computer system, leading to the diversion of over N800 million.
The charges against Eze include violations of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2024, and the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022. Eze pleaded not guilty, and his counsel, E.
Afrogha, indicated that a bail application had been filed. The court adjourned the case until August 24 for the bail hearing and ordered Eze to be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
