Court Adjourns Ruling in Times Multimedia vs. Afreximbank

The Federal High Court in Nigeria, under Justice Daniel Osiagor, has adjourned a ruling regarding an intellectual property dispute between Times Multimedia Ltd and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) until September 29, 2026. Times Multimedia Ltd, a Nigerian media event company, initiated the suit alleging infringement of its intellectual property rights related to the Creative Africa Exchange (CAX) platform, which was developed to enhance Africa's creative cultural industry.

The company claims that Afreximbank reproduced the concept and underlying framework of CAX without consent, infringing on its intellectual property rights. In response, Afreximbank filed a preliminary objection challenging the court's jurisdiction, citing diplomatic immunity under the African Export-Import Bank Privilege and Immunity Order of 2014.

The court is set to hear arguments from both parties regarding this jurisdictional challenge, with Justice Osiagor reserving the ruling on the preliminary objection.
