Court Ruling Challenges Adeleke's 2026 Re-Election Bid

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that a recent judgment from the Federal High Court regarding the Accord Party has cast doubt on Governor Ademola Adeleke's ability to seek re-election in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. The APC campaign council, led by Oluremi Omowaiy, issued a statement noting that the court ruling directs the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take necessary steps in line with the judgment.

The APC argues that unless the Federal High Court's decision is overturned by a competent appellate court, Adeleke will not be able to contest the election. The ruling is seen as a significant setback for Adeleke's political ambitions, as it affects the candidacy sponsorship of the Accord Party for state and national legislative elections.

The APC further claims that unresolved legal disputes regarding the leadership of the Accord Party could hinder Adeleke's candidacy, and they accuse his administration of mismanaging public resources.
