Court Nullifies Angbazo's ADC Candidacy, Orders Rerun
The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Garba Umar, has annulled the nomination of Major General Nuhu Angbazo (Rtd) as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Nasarawa State. The court ordered a rerun primary election in Karu Local Government Area, stating that the previous primary election was inconclusive as results from Karu were not included.
Justice Umar restrained Angbazo from presenting himself as the ADC candidate for the 2027 governorship election and also restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing him. The suit was initiated by former Minister of Environment, Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, who participated in the ADC primary alongside Angbazo and Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo (Nasarawa South).
The court ruled that since no elections took place in Karu, a fresh primary must occur in the 11 wards of Karu before a valid candidate can be nominated.
