Court to Rule on Sowore's No-Case Submission May 8, 2026

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Moham Umar, has scheduled a ruling for May 8, 2026, regarding Omoyele Sowore's no-case submission in his cyberstalking trial. Sowore, a prominent activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, is accused by the Department of State Services (DSS) of making defamatory posts against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on social media.

His counsel, Marshal Abubakar, argued that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case, asserting that the DSS did not provide credible evidence linking Sowore to the alleged offenses. The prosecution, represented by Akinlolu Kehind SAN, countered that sufficient evidence had already been presented to warrant Sowore's defense.

Sowore was re-arraigned on December 5, 2025, on amended charges related to two counts of cyberstalking, which he has pleaded not guilty to.
