Court Fines ADC Official N100m for Suing Chief Judge

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Nkemakolam Ukandu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to pay a fine of N100 million for suing Chief Judge Justice Peter Lifu. The court struck out the suit, which alleged leadership issues within the ADC and sought an investigation by the National Judicial Council (NJC) into alleged corrupt practices involving two judges.

Justice Salim Ibrahim presided over the case and noted that neither Ukandu nor his legal counsel appeared in court to prosecute the matter. The suit was previously assigned to Justice Ibrahim on June 30, where he warned that it would be dismissed if the plaintiff and counsel failed to appear.

Following an oral application from J.U.K. Igw SAN, the court directed Ukandu to pay the fine within 14 days.
