Court Stops Rivers Chief Judge from Governor's Impeachment Process

The River State High Court in Port Harcourt has issued an order preventing Chief Judge Simeon Chibuzor Amadi from accepting an impeachment notice directed against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Ngozi Odu. The court restrained the Speaker of the River State House of Assembly and others from taking steps towards the impeachment process.

This follows two separate suits filed against the Governor and Deputy, temporarily halting the impeachment proceedings pending further court hearings scheduled for January 23, 2026.
