Court Halts Rivers Assembly from Impeaching Governor Fubara

The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has issued an interim injunction restraining the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Chike Amaewhule, and 32 others from proceeding with the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Nma Odu. The court order also prevents the Chief Judge from accepting or forwarding any documents related to the impeachment process.

This legal action was taken in response to a suit filed by the Deputy Governor at the High Court in Oyigbo Local Government Area.
