Court Strikes Out Cybercrime Charge Against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan in Abuja

The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out cybercrime charges against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan after the Attorney General of the Federation discontinued the prosecution. This move came shortly after a similar case involving defamation against Senator Godswil Akpabio and ex-Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello was also struck out by Justice Chizoba Orji.

Akpoti-Uduaghan's lawyer and the prosecution's counsel were present in court when the case was discontinued. The court also discharged the surety and ordered the return of documents belonging to the defendant.

Akpoti-Uduaghan had been arraigned on six counts of cybercrime and three counts of defamation. The trial is set to commence on September 22.
