Court to Hear ADC Leadership Dispute on April 14, 2025

The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for April 14, 2025, regarding a leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The suit was filed by Nafiu Gomb, who seeks to stop the leadership of the ADC led by former Senate President David Mark.

Justice Emeka Nwite set the date following the issuance of a notice to the parties involved. The case is significant as it follows a court of appeal judgment delivered on March 12, which directed the parties to return to trial court and maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reportedly removed the names of Mark and Aregbesola from the official portal of the party. Gomb's counsel has requested an expedited hearing, while Mark and Aregbesola have filed preliminary objections urging the court to dismiss the suit, claiming lack of jurisdiction and standing.

They argue that the suit is based on falsehood and that Gomb has resigned from his position within the party.
