Court to Hear ADC Leadership Dispute on April 14

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set April 14 for a hearing concerning a leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is currently led by former Senate President David Mark. The suit was filed by Nafiu Bala Gomb, who is seeking to stop Mark from leading the party.

Justice Emeka Nwite fixed the date on Friday after issuing a notice regarding the party's case, which is registered as FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025. The ADC's leadership is also contested by former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola and former ADC Chairman Ralph Nwosu, who are listed as defendants.

The matter was previously adjourned indefinitely pending the outcome of an appeal challenging an earlier court order. The Court of Appeal's judgment delivered on March 12 directed the party to return to trial court and maintain the status quo until the substantive suit is determined.

Gomb's faction filed a motion on April 7 to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to restore their names on its portal. Mark and Aregbesola have filed preliminary objections to dismiss the suit, arguing it lacks jurisdiction and is a matter of internal party affairs.
