Covenant University Sets Guidelines for Hiring Married Couples

Covenant University has published its requirements for employing married couples, allowing both spouses to work at the institution if they independently meet the qualifications for their respective positions. The policy aims to encourage the employment of professionally qualified spouses of current staff rather than restrict such arrangements.

A critical condition is that the applicant's partner must not participate in any part of the recruitment process. The selection procedure is based strictly on interview performance, with no preferential treatment given due to the relationship with a current staff member.

Once both spouses are employed, they cannot be placed in the same department unless extraordinary approval is granted by the Registrar to avoid conflicts of interest. Additionally, neither spouse may partake in administrative decisions regarding the other, including evaluations or promotions.

Both spouses must sign an undertaking before starting work, committing to the terms of their contracts and prioritizing the university's interests over personal considerations. Covenant University is a private Christian institution located in Ota and operated by the Living Faith Church.
