CPN Warns of Cybersecurity Threats Ahead of 2026 Assembly

The Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), led by President Dr. Essien Eyo, issued a warning regarding the increasing cybersecurity threats that pose risks to the economy and disrupt activities.

During a virtual press conference, Eyo highlighted that unlicensed practitioners undermine the country's digital future and stressed the necessity for urgent measures to enhance the technological ecosystem. The council is intensifying efforts to eliminate quackery and enforce professional standards across Nigeria's information technology sector.

Eyo reiterated that individuals and organizations engaging in computer practices in Nigeria without valid registration and licenses from the council remain illegal. The upcoming 2026 professional assembly, scheduled for May 13-14 in Abuja, will provide stakeholders the opportunity to address emerging digital risks and strengthen Nigeria's preparedness against evolving cyber threats.

The assembly's theme will reflect the urgent need to fortify the country's digital foundation to ensure inclusivity and resilience in the face of rapid technological changes.
