Crisis erupts in Lagos PDP as party chair distances self from Bode George’s committee inauguration

The crisis has erupted in the Lagos chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the party's chairman, Philip Olabode Aivoji, distanced himself from the inauguration of a congress committee by Bode George's group. Aivoji labeled the action as illegal, unconstitutional, and unauthorized, emphasizing that only the national working committee (NWC) and the state executive committee have the authority to carry out such inaugurations.

He urged party members to ignore the unconstitutional exercise and remain calm and vigilant while awaiting directives from the NWC and SEC. Aivoji stressed that the PDP is guided by norms and customs that dictate the behavior of its members, and any unconstitutional acts will not be tolerated.

The composition of George's inauguration committee was deemed a flagrant usurpation of the constitutional duties of the party's national and state working committees.
